While having a YouTube account for some users is just a means to be able to comment under their favourite videos by YouTubers (YTers) they enjoy watching online. For myself, it is a means to continue to build my personal brand as well as the brand for #then1989.

With that in mind, I make an effort to actively communicate with some of my favourite YTers via the comments section under their videos as well as through their social media accounts. When I first began to research and decide what I wanted to do with my YT channel, I came across a video by Nitraa B where she shares some of her tips for those looking to get started on YT.

The one tip that I took away and made a staple practice of mines is networking. Mind you, I have not sent out any inbox messages requesting people to check out my videos, as Nitraa B mentioned in the video. But my approach was to just simply make my presence known on some of my favourite guru’s channels. Whether it was a simple comment about how I loved their video or how I planned to try out a product they reviewed. For me, it was about genuinely reaching out to the YTers that I enjoyed watching and expressing that to them without requesting anything in return.

As I get more comfortable with myself on my YT channel, I have found that I have a desire to branch out into other videos that are not just supplements for the ATBTK segment I have on The Dancehall Now Show. There are a lot of YTers on the platform who create review videos for various products that they have tried, whether they were sponsored by a company or not.

In April, I was selected to be part of an Influenster programme. I was first introduced to the site by Shanell via her YT channel, Naturally Nellzy. She did a review video on her February VoxBox which she received from Influenster.

At first I was not sure if I wanted to sign up for it at the time. My reasoning was that I did not have an Instagram account as yet (trivial, I know) and I wanted to have all the social media platforms covered before I did, so I waited. Once I finally got myself a true smartphone and signed up for IG, I created my very own Influenster profile account. It was quite simple to connect all of my personal social media accounts to it.

With that being said, I went through the process of unlocking specific badges based on my interests and which types of products I would like to review should I ever be selected for a Vox Box.

Now, here’s the timeline, I received my exclusive invitation to join Influenster on March 13, 2013. I took a week or two to go through and decide which badges I wanted to unlock and by March 27, 2013 I had been selected to complete a pre-qualification survey. According to the answers I provided, I had been ‘carefully selected’ to be a part of a group of natural beauties to test the AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT ® Intensive Night Cream.

I was stoked! My first ever free product and all I had to do was complete a simple survey, which cost me nothing to complete. Grateful I was and still am to have received my new night cream in the mail less than 14 days later. Shipping paid for by Influenster or AVEENO®, not exactly sure who actually did but thankful nonetheless.

When I first received the product, I was just so super excited I opened the box and started snapping photos before I could do an official unboxing video for it. But to kick off the PM section of #then1989, I decided to dedicate an article to my first impressions of the product.

As you can see from the photo collage above and below, the product container is not too large. This is perfect for me as my current bathroom is not as large as my previous one was so there is not a whole lot of space for me to keep my daily products out =(. AVEENO® also sent with the product a basic eye mask, which I have not used since I received the box (I will someday though, I promise!). In the box as well as was an information card about the product as well as the official social media hashtag to use when speaking of the product on specific platforms such as Twitter and Instagram.

Day 1 was April 15, the photo collage of me (looking busted I might add…LOL) was taken the night I first started to use AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT ® Intensive Night Cream. That is the before photo by the way. =)

I have very oily skin, which is very acne-prone. In the past and still today, I have tried various skin care products to clear my skin and some have worked longer than others, while some did nothing for my skin. Currently, I am on the quest to achieve optimum health and wellness. Since I have only being using this product for just over two weeks, the only thing that I can say is the initial result I have found is on the mornings after I use the cream (because some nights I do forget) my skin feel extremely smooth, despite a few acne pimples.

Because I am not a consistent user of this product from the AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT ® collection, I think this is the only review I can offer at this time. Since I originally started using the product on the 15th day of last month, I think on the 15th of May I will recommit myself to using this night cream, every night and do a 3-month update and full review, video and photos to accompany the blog.
